About bioProcessUK
bioProcessUK is a Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) dedicated to advancing the UK biopharmaceutical bioprocessing sector. bioProcessUK was established to implement recommendation 4 of the BIGT report Bioscience 2015. bioProcessUK is responsible for supporting the growth of this sector in the UK and activities focus around three key goals:
• Build a network of bioprocessing Centres of Excellence
across the UK
• Attract significant inward investment in bioprocessing assets
• Foster bioprocessing community development
Biopharmaceuticals (biological medicines), is the fastest growing sector in the pharmaceutical industry, accounting for 10% of the total drug sales and 30% of the products in the pipeline today. The UK has the second highest number of biopharmaceuticals in development worldwide.
bioProcessUK is managed by the BioIndustry Association (BIA).
bioProcessUK is primarily funded by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB). The TSB is an executive non-governmental public body. It is sponsored by, and reports to, the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).
